Classes will take place on our last day at sea,
starting at 8:00am.

Midnight Fringe Basket

Basket Dimensions: 12" in diameter X 5" high
This round, wood painted base, basket is a basic weave with black and teal reed. Beads are added at the base of the rim while lashing with waxed linen. Smaller beads are added under the lashing, at the top of the rim, with beading wire. Can be made, less costly, without the beads.

Bike and Tote

Basket Dimensions: 12" x 6" x 8".        
Ride your bike with your new basket and then stop and go shopping with the same basket. Leather handles and Shaker tape strap are attached. Bottom is a filled in base; sides are start-stop with back going straight up and front bowed. Easy basket to weave on your last day of our cruise. Colors include blue, brown, green, and maroon.

Tres Wall Basket

Basket Dimension: 2" W x 5" L x 11" H
Color choices: apple green and butternut
Techniques are 2-3 twill, triple twining and reverse triple twining.
Create small handle using two spokes and embellish with metal flowers.

Beach Time

Basket Dimensions: 8" L X 2" W X 14" H
Fast, easy and fun door/wall basket to weave. Basic weaving skills
are used. Adding a few color overlays add interest. The handles pre-painted and a metal medallion is added to the side with some extra ocean themed embellishments. Students will have a choice of medallions and embellishments at class time … These are included in the material fee price. Additional medallions/embellishments can be purchased if desired.

Linen and Gemstone

We will create a Linen and gemstone bracelet that has a slide close. Easy to wear and very ‘on-trend’ right now. I will have many different gemstones and colors available such as jade, aventurine, jasper and amethyst. Great for gift giving.

Mermaids

Basket Dimensions: 5 ½" X 5 ½" X 2" high
This handy basket and coaster set is a quick and easy weave.
The 6 beautiful cork coasters are included in the kit.
A variety of dyed reed colors will be offered.

Pretty Baby

Basket Dimensions: 6" W X 3" H
This little basket is woven on a hardwood base. Its weaves up fast and has several different techniques to learn. Students will chase weave, 4-rod wale and double lash with waxed linen thread. Choice of embellishments will be available at class time. These are included in material fee price.

Folded lauhala (or bark ) Bracelette

Students will learn to work with Lauhala (corkscrew pine) leaf. We will learn how to select, prep and where to get prepped Lauhala rolls (Kuka’a).
We will make a lauhala leaf bracelet (that can also be made with bark, etc.) The bracelets are durable and easy to wear. Affordable kits will be available for purchase if students would like to make more. I will also do a demo on creating ‘roses’ with lauhala.

Bookmark with rose

Students will learn to work with Lauhala (corkscrew pine) leaf. We will learn how to select, prep and where to get prepped Lauhala rolls (Kuka’a).
We will make lauhala bookmarks that will be embellished with a lauhala ‘rose’ that students will learn how to make. We will also make Hawaiian cordage to finish off the bookmark with a cord and Hawaii island shell. Affordable kits will be available.

Game Time

Basket Dimensions: 4" L X 3" W X 3 ½" H
Be ready for fun and games with this handy little basket! It has a wood base and an assortment of space-dyed reed will be available to weave your basket. It comes with a notepad, pencil, and a deck of cards. Let the games begin!

Island Flags

Basket Dimensions: 1 ¼"
The flags of the four islands we visit were used as the inspiration for these miniature rib baskets. The frames are already constructed with God’s eyes completed and ribs glued in place. The frame is made of round reed, weavers are waxed linen. Numerous other color combinations with be available.

Adella

Basket Dimensions: 5.5" base diameter x 6.5" H
Many color choices.
Start with a woven base then continuous chase, color overlays added and embellished with beads/buttons and ribbon.

Leather Knot Bracelet

Sized to fit.
Many color choices.
Students take 3 different colors of leather cord and make a knotted bracelet. The knot is continued to the length needed to fit the wrist.
